How to use the Snowflake Emoji on different devices

The best way to send someone the snowflake emoji is simply to copy it from the selected list that is provided on our website.

Here’s a rundown on how to use the snowflake symbol on the most common and popular devices out there:

Snowflake on Windows keyword

Keyboard customization

You can customize the keyboard layout in Windows so that you can enter whatever specific symbol you want as quickly as any other message. You can do this by using third-party applications or by modifying the keyboard configuration inside Windows (a bit tricky of a process, but there are several guides on YouTube).

Direct Emoji Input

There are many major platforms, such as Facebook, Twitch and other websites, that have a messaging feature, thus they have the option of a direct emoji input. Therefore, you won’t need to know for example an alt code of a certain emoji, because they are provided in a menu of different symbol options. Generally, the menu is indicated by the classic smiley which acts as a button to open up the menu.

Character Map

Character Map helps you to display and use all accessible symbols and icons. The windows character map is another way to create a snowflake emoji. Use the search option (as in, window key) and then select the character map to find it. Here you’ll be seeing a collection of all the fonts you’ve downloaded on your computer so far, and after that, you can select any kind of letters as well as symbols. To access it, simply press the windows key and search for “Character Map” in the search-bar.

Snowflake on iPhone, iPad and Mac

Copy-Paste

One of several simplest ways to access the snowflake icon of your preference on any Apple device is to just copy/paste it off our site and use it as you please.

iPhone/iPad → Emoji Keyboard

If you are messaging or writing something on an Apple product, you will see that there is a provided emoji keyboard, with all your favourite emoticons, that can be accessed by clicking the smiley button. There, you can find a wide range of various icons as well as several other emoticons inside the emoji keyboard.

Mac → Character Palette

You have the option of adding or using various items from the character palette on your Mac. Character Palette helps you to access and use all characters and icons, exactly like the snowflake emoji, that are present in all fonts that have been enabled on your computer. Then there are the fonts that you can always add to your character palette, so you can have a broader set of emojis. You can get to your character palette by going to your settings first. From your settings go to → keyboard preference, then → Check the “show keyboard and emoji viewers in menu bar” → Click the palette that displays the command key in the menu bar.(⌘) and select “Show Emoji and Symbols”.

Snowflake on Android

Emoji Keyboard

Like every Apple computing device, Android smartphones also provide immediate access to emojis and symbols via the emoji button. Here, along with several other emojis, you will find the classic snowflake and some variations.

Application specific

The majority of chat apps, such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, have different ways of sending your preferred emoticons. For sending a certain emoji to someone, you can use their custom Emoji palette (generally accessed through a smiley icon that functions as a button).

Oftentimes these application specific emoji-keyboards also come with a search function, allowing quick access to your Emoji of choice.

The History of the Snowflake Emoji

As the optics themselves suggest, the snowflake emoji always rises in popularity during the cold season. Ever since it was made available people have been sending them to strengthen christmas/winter vibes or to simply showcase that it is freezing cold.

The snowflake emoji was first released in 1993 as a part of Unicode 1.1, however, it was added to the list of emoticons as late as 2015. The icon didn’t really have a deeper meaning, until 2018, when Quavo, an American rapper posted about it on Twitter.

Using the icon, he “broke the ice”, by sending it to her girlfriend’s, Saweetie’s Instagram DMs. From that point on the snowflake emoji became a sort of pick up line online.
